Today We Were Off To MAKRO,

we had collected 21,000 baht to donate to Steve's charity,
the Mercy Center, first stop the fresh meat counter, 12 kilos of chicken legs,
with us, Slim Jim and Diana was Lhen Lhen the coordinator from the center on my right, I under estimated how much 12 kilos was so another 2 kilos to go!
the first trolley wheeled by Slim Jim, now with some ribs in it,
still a long way to go!
the rib counter,
then to the milk section,
5 boxes of each,
by now it was 'Ow my back!',
then diapers, loads of them!
we soon had 5 trolleys filled with goods, the bill was a tad under 19,000 baht, a store representative showed us to a counter at the store where you show them your bill and you receive a small 'thank you' gift in the form of food or toys, we were given two of the smallest packets of crisps I have ever seen in my life! I guess they do not want to encourage small sales like ours there,
how is it that I always get the heaviest trolley?
load up the truck,
then to the center, straight away there was a small army of volunteers to help unload,
we nearly needed a bigger truck!
then all hands to the pumps,
with help from one of the center volunteers,
along to the store rooms,
once we were finished it was a quick bye to the willing helpers, today most of the kids were still at school, but new for this year is this trampoline, great fun, these three were playing on it when we arrived and could not wait to get back on it when we left, we still had some money left so tomorrow we will meet up to buy some Christmas toys for the kids,
then home and who should arrive? none other than Joe on his way to the airport, so a quick tea and a chat, then for us our evening meal, garlic mussels followed by a smoked salmon salad,
and as a real treat, well it is nearly Christmas, some fresh black cherries,
we had a game of cribbage but had 1984 on in the background, it was strange to see Trigger, Rodger Lloyd-Pack, in a serious role, but of course he has been in so many, the story of 1984 is of Winston Smith, one of the bureaucrats, rewriting history in one of the departments, one day he commits the crime of falling in love with Julia, but Big Brother's is listening and viewing, it is only a matter of time before the confessions begin,
second in the series, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, the four heroes return to Narnia, only to discover that hundreds of years have passed since they ruled there, and the evil King Miraz has taken charge, with the help of a heroic mouse called Reepicheep (who deserves an Oscar), order is finally restored,
to round off the evening two from Hurclue, first Sad Cypress, distant cousins and childhood friends Elinor Carlisle and Roddy Welman are happily engaged to be married, one day Elinor receives an anonymous letter in the post, claiming that someone is trying their hardest to work their way into the affection, and subsequently also bank account, of her wealthy aunt Laura Welman, who sent the letter and what extremes will the sender go to?

followed by Death on the Nile, while on their honeymoon in Egypt, newlyweds Simon Doyle and Linett Ridgeway are constantly harassed by Simon's ex-fiancée Jackie De Bellefort who feels her ex-best friend has stolen the love of her life, a holidaying Hercules Poirot counsels Jackie to put an end to her antics, fearing that all of this can only end in tragedy, and of course it does, we had already seen the big screen version of this story line but this was still immensely watchable, then off to bed.

Dear Mick and Mas, yes we all had great times at TQ2, I think times are getting hard for the orphanage, the freezer was bare - literally, but now filled to the top, yes many thanks to Slim Jim and Mark also Lhen Lhen for helping out there as coordinator, best regards, Stan and Diana.
