It's The End Of Their World,

as they knew it, but what caused it? 'it' being that residents in Beebe, Arkansas, woke to find that over 1,000 birds had fallen from the skies, environmental cleanup workers in white jumpsuits descended on Beebe on New Year's Day to pick up thousands of dead birds from roads and walkways,
so far the blame has run from a sign of a biblical end times to chemical conspiracies, shifts in the Earth's magnetic core, and even proof of UFOs, early theories are that the flock was flushed out of a roost, potentially by fireworks, and died after being caught in a sudden storm or, possibly, from stress related to New Year's Eve noise, that's it they were deafen to death,

some of the birds have been sent to labs for analysts, but also at the same time and place 100,000 fish died in Arkansas River, authorities say it was probably caused by a localized disease affecting one species of fish, now that is a strange one, a disease that affects only one specie of fish and all at the same time? now that is weird, I know that this can happen with fish from the salmonid group but two things that are noted by the spread of the disease, first it only infects salmon type fish, do salmon and trout live in the in river in those numbers? and second they do not all die at the same time, for me I would have guessed a localized toxin was released into the river by accident and more than one species of fish was affected.
