Another 'Good Luck' Story I Like So Much,

lost for 40 years the name plate from a submarine

was found in a car boot sale at a village fair near Knutsford, Philip McKeiver, 67 couldn’t believe his luck after stumbling across the name plate, decommissioned in 1967 and later sold for scrap the plate belonged to HMS Tally Ho which was named by Winston Churchill in 1942 and became famous for sinking a number of Japanese ships and a German U boat, 



interestingly in one encounter with the enemy the attacking vessel became so close to the submarine the boats propeller went the length of the submarines port ballast tanks making them useless, it was after the end of the war that it became known that the attacking Japanese vessel's port screw had been shorn of its blades almost down to the hub, 


Philip said, 'I normally collect medals, but just in the last 12 months or so I’ve started collecting antiques as well,' he bought the badge for just £90 – but has since had it valued by auctioneers Sotheby’s in London who estimated it to be worth at least £10,000, it just goes to show that despite shows that people watch that value antiques there are still treasures to be found out there, so keep looking, but what good luck for Philip!
