I Like Ships/Boats,

and enjoy looking around them,

so when Diana and myself visited the UK and stayed near Greenwich it was only natural that we went to see the Cutty Sark, the sad news was that it had been destroyed by fire,

this was all that we saw when we arrived, but the good news is that from 26 April onwards tickets will be available and the attraction is open again after 5 years and a £50million restoration project, despite the extensive fire damage, around 90 per cent of the fabric and fittings visible on the refurbished ship belonged to the original 143-year-old clipper, the precious items were saved because conservation work had already begun on some areas of the ship, and the mast, rigging and parts of the cabins had been removed when the fire struck,

built on the River Clyde at Dunbarton, by the firm of Scott & Linton at a cost of £16,150, the Cutty Sark was launched in 1869 to carry tea from China, She was then the most advanced ship in existence, and could carry more than 1.3million pounds of tea in a single voyage - equivalent to 200million cups, so no prizes for guessing which attraction we will be visiting on our next visit to the UK!
