Leaving The Safety Aspect To One Side,

I would have thought that turning lights off would have been easy,

especially as the new up to date Berlin International Airport is supposed to be state of the art, of course it does have a few problems, it was supposed to open last year, the cost of the project has almost doubled from its original estimate - from £1.7bn to £3.7bn and it has a list of 20,000 things that need to be put right - from fire extinguishers that don't work to doors that won't open,

regarding the lights that can not be switched off that are burning at least £2,000 worth of electricity every 12 hours in the main terminal hall, Horst Amann, airport technical director, said on Wednesday 'it has to do with the fact that we haven't progressed far enough with our lighting system that we can control it,'

I have to admit I am surprised that the Health & Safety officer has let things deteriorate so badly, if some one is working on site and receives an electric shock there is no way to turn off the electricity? incredible!

but on the good news front the airport will be open soon, although currently there is no opening date scheduled, Amann said on Wednesday that he plans to set a date by the end of this year, 'I will only name a date when I can take responsibility for it,' Amann hopes that will soon change, 'I am beginning to worry about my summer vacation,' he joked on Wednesday and he mentioned that the board has now hired a headhunting firm to find someone looking for a challenge -- and one who can find the light switch.
