What A Difference A Day Makes,

as the Spanish song goes,

written by Mexican songwriter María Grever, the song was written in 1934, originally the song was known as “Cuando vuelva a tu lado” ("When I Return to Your Side") but in English we know it as What a Diff'rence a Day Makes”, as popularised by Dinah Washington, and what a difference a day has made to the mushrooms, they have grown so much, I can almost taste them now, fried with garlic on dry brown bread,

in the morning on we were off to the FedEx office in Naklua,

it is at the far end of a courtyard,

look out for the tall sign on your right as you go up the hill from the dolphin roundabout,

looking back towards the road the shop is a fairways in, we sent the paperwork to Diana's parents for their trip to Thailand,

 next stop, the market,

we thought about some strawberries, but the marina plums are now in season so will buy some of them instead,

lots of food ready to go,

 but for tonight some chicken,

 and garlic,

Diana is looking at some papaya pok-pok,

whilst I was looking at the dried fish,

 not that I wanted any,

I was just looking at the pattens some of the fish were dried in,

pok-pok finished and we were on our way,

to the stall that sells the plums,

and delicious they were too,

we made our way around the market,

 stopping off for some pineapple,

Diana also chose a couple of things on sticks,

one of the mobile flower seller came past, then home,

and time to play with the cactus, I put this one, a Echinocactus rigidissimus v. rubispinus, to give it it's proper name into a place where one had not made the grade,

so hole dug with a spoon,

 gravel placed around it,

then next job, the air plants,

this is the log I am going to place the new plants on,

 so carefully attach them,

 and job done,

a quick look at the cacti we bought yesterday,

not to everyone's taste but we like them,

and we have to find big pots or trays for all of these,

the colours are quite different to 'normal' cactus,

as are the living stones, now a collection of 5 plants,

on the propagation front all of these were taken as small buds,

from the larger plants that we have,

 then our evening meal,

an Indian that Diana bought the extra chicken for,

 delicious,

and the fish enjoyed the extra feeds as we ate, for dessert the plums,

after our meal we watched Celebrity The Chase, yet again not a single celebrity was known to us and as last week the hypothesis I made then came true again this week as all of the 'celebrities' were knocked out, fame does not equal brain, moving on, The Mission, a powerful film, although not I guess based on actual places it is all to easy to imagine some of the horrors that took place as Spanish and Portuguese explorers battled for territory and the terrors that the indigenous natives must have endured, with that we were off to bed.

I wonder if you're going down to Kho Chang again as there seem to be only good memories. Greetings from Austria, we survived another winter here, warm months to come that makes it easier not to miss the great times we had in Asia. Karl and Mary Ann
