It Looks Like Jupiter,

but do not be fooled, it is 51 Eridani b,

and has just been found by the new Gemini Planet Imager, (GPI) which was installed on the 8-meter Gemini South Telescope in Chile, for the technical this is the article in Science where it was published, (you have to be a member to login), but for an easier read about 51 Eridani b have a look here, a few statistics, it is 100 light years away and is relatively young at only 20 million old, it has twice the mass of Jupiter and it’s also one of the coldest planets at –800 degrees Fahrenheit, it is thought that the discovery will help astronomers understand the formation of our neighbor planets, what other wonders will the GPI see?
