I mentioned where I lived as a kid a chap in the same street,
made dolls houses and furniture for them, to help him he had an electric fretsaw,
moving on to now, Oakland-based artist Gabriel Schama,
brings fret saw cutting to a new level,
by producing intricate relief sculptures by layering pieces of laser-cut mahogany plywood one on top of another all slightly different to make shapes and fantastical patterns, the art of fret saw cutting has come a long way since the 1950s! but what a skill Gabriel Schama must have to work out where and what to cut, for more examples have a look here, and no I am not on commission!
