what is it?
a few clues, the picture was taken in the Channel Islands National Park in southern California, the
park encompasses five of the eight California Channel Islands (Anacapa, Santa
Cruz, Santa Rosa, San Miguel, and Santa Barbara) and the ocean around them, the orb was photographed by the Nautilus exploration vessel whilst diving between the islands,
and made this fascinating video of the strange orb like life
form, so what is it? a trick question really as at this time according to the
Nautilus website no one can actually be 100% sure quite what it is, as Paul Snelgrove an Oceanographer, famously said, "we know more about the surface
of the Moon and about Mars than we do about the deep sea floor, despite the
fact that we have yet to extract a gram of food, a breath of oxygen or a drop
of water from those bodies", or put another way by Robert Ballard, Ocean
Researcher, "If you compare NASA's annual budget to explore the heavens,
that one year budget would fund NOAA's budget to explore the oceans for 1,600
years." how little we know about our own planet.
