daybreak,
dawned cold and cloudy,
so we wrapped up,
and began our walk,
we were going to the cable car station on the right of the picture,
accompanied part of the way by one of the cats,
a quick pose,
before the rain,
sets in,
thankfully for most of the day it did not rain,
Diana said I was walking like an Egyptian again,
we were walking towards an art installation,
of strange figures,
on the top of buildings,
and perched on poles,
I am guessing they are made of bronze,
as they have not seemed to have weathered,
since our last visit here,
in June 2016,
many of the restaurants and bars are now opening early for the off season visitors like this one,
which has a nice view,
looking down to the harbour,
what a catchy name,
Nick the Greek, Boutique, it almost rhymes,
he was unfortunately closed,
as were many shops,
but this on was not, Kamari Gold,
well I did not buy an anniversary present or a Valentines gift,
so now was the time,
and this is what Diana chose,
a blue and green opal pendent with a surround of topaz with matching earrings,
who's a happy camper?
another shop that Diana likes is this one,
one of the few clothes shops that are open,
we continued making our way to the cable car,
and passed this landing with artwork on it,
I am not sure if the work is completed,
or ongoing,
a look back to where we had come from,
our room is over there in the distance,
just a small thing,
try to remember the piece of glass that Diana is leaning on,
in 2 or 3 days time it or a piece like it will feature in for me a heart stopping picture,
we are nearly at the cable car,
and this is the palm outside to look for,
we were going to go down, but it is on a low season schedule, so we missed the car going down in the morning, so that was that,
I was looking at some building work going on, the long tubes are for moving concrete, it is mixed at the top then poured down the tubes to the workers below,
some one has been to the shops,
how did I know!
we walked back to Fira town square, and had a coffee,
at Vithos coffee shop,
it was one of a number of restaurants/coffee shops in the square,
a tribute to the animal that made so many buildings possible,
Diana just had to pose,
we were quite surprised by the number of Asian restaurants here,
the town square deserted now, but in just a few months it will be packed,
keeping to an Asian theme a sushi bar,
and a traditional Chinese restaurant, it was almost like being back in China Town,
a reminder we are near the sea, any untreated metal will corrode so quickly because of the salt in the air,
our local shop,
for coke, water and wine,
we continued our walk up the hill towards the church,
which we have to pass to get to our room,
as we reach the viewing point near the top of the hill,
we spotted one of the ferry's leaving for it's next port of call,
the way to our rooms,
and here we go,
when we reach here it is a turn left,
then down the steps,
we counted them one time, 128 steps I think it was,
my knees have still not forgiven me!
and when we see the boat we know we are nearly home,
arriving home Diana decided to play with the double camera set up,
that can be used with a remote control,
so pose and click,
I just chilled out with the other camera,
and watched the clouds,
as they changed,
and fed the cat,
which has adopted us,
and has taken a liking to Diana,
who always makes a fuss of it,
every time it arrives for food,
or a play,
the sun now setting,
but first Diana wanted another look,
at her Valentines present,
for our evening meal we went to Restaurant Romantica, just a short walk from our room,
in the day a lovely view,
inside almost every table was taken or reserved, not bad for the middle of the low season,
after our starters, Diana ordered one of her favorites,
a chicken kebab,
and for myself a leg of lamb, a couple of desserts later, we made a move for home and we were off to bed.
