which is near the place we want to visit, Lindisfarne,
it was a glorious day,
we both saw something on our left in the sky,
it appeared to be a large balloon, similar to the ones used in WWII,
for a change instead of the usual round hay bales, today square ones,
up the A10 we went,
and actually saw Lindisfarne on the sat nav, but we were still 50 miles away!
under a tunnel,
and here we were in Wooler, it always happens, just as you press the shutter, a telegraph pole appears out of nowhere!
the town is just a short drive from Lindisfarne, sometimes known as Holy Island,
we had a drive around the town and market square,
looking for our hotel,
and then,
there it was, Noble Lands, just a bit further along the street from the pub on the corner,
a nice sized room,
at £42.00 per night, just a thought, the prices we are giving are for the time of year that we stayed there, so prices could be up or down depending on the season,
the rear garden of the hotel,
there is a covered walkway to the main street,
at the opposite end a restaurant,
into the main street,
that had just a few shops,
and a couple of pubs,
in the market square there were a couple of coffee shops/cafes,
which we had a look at,
also a couple of pubs with restaurants,
the reason we stayed here was its proximity to the island,
we had hoped to visit the island to day, but the tide was against us,
you can only get on and off the island at low water, get it wrong and you are staying till the next low tide! so on to plan B Dave,
the town itself was decked out in flowers,
and for once there was enough money in the budget to pay for someone to water them,
one of the local churches,
the square, in the distance our restaurant for the evening, the Black Bull,
also in the square the local CO-OP,
and one of the other churches,
in the restaurant for our evening meal,
we had the place to ourselves,
Diana decided against a starter, I went with a prawn cocktail,
for our main courses Diana choice a chicken curry,
lamb chops for myself, we had a few nightcaps in the bar, then as we had an early start to hit low tide in the morning, we were off to bed.
