like this one,
French
Instagram superstar Maddy Burciaga, the reason I mention this particular one is
that sometimes things just do not go as planned, in an Instagram story, the
27-year-old shows off fake copies of Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent books,
adding that the real books are quite expensive in bookshops and boutiques. But
if you’re not actually interested in reading the books, but just want to show
off to your followers, you can just get these blocks of cardboard that look
like books, for just a fraction of the price, so far so good, but, the fact
that the books were actually fake and infringed on the copyrights of the
originals’ owners was only part of what inflamed the masses, after showcasing
the products, Maddy Burciaga proceeded to offer promo codes allowing her fans
to not only get a great price (€19.99 per book) but also take advantage of a
buy-one-get-one-free deal, the problem with Burciaga’s offer was that these
fakes could actually be bought for just 3 or 4 euros on Chinese online shopping
platforms like Aliexpress, comments were soon flying, “Oh yeah, we
knew everything in their lives was fake, but even cardboard books? These
people have no dignity,” one person tweeted, “Did anyone explain to her
that you buy the books for reading, not decorating?” someone else wrote, still
she should not feel alone at dropping the ball, we featured another
Instagramer that got caught out back in October last year, back to influencing your followers, if books are your thing you can buy books by the yard here, like contemporary paperbacks £49.99 a yard or you can be a little more upmarket,
and rent a selection of larger
vintage books on a variety of subjects, just £100 per 3 months per yard, just the thing for the upmarket influencer!
