we started our walk back towards the pier and our hotel,
checking in time was not until 3.00 in the afternoon,
which meant we had all morning,
and some of the afternoon to spend looking around and riding the train,
back past the Viking bow,
the pier in the distance,
and here we are The Chatsworth Hotel,
which was rather conveniently next to and a part of the Jali Indian restaurant,
booked in, our view of the sea, we wanted a place near the beach, we could not have gotten any closer!
time for a walk to the pier,
I am guessing the difference in height between the buildings means that one of them had an extension done some years ago,
this looks sort of neat, but we both preferred to have a view of the sea,
what a glorious day,
looking back at the building what a curious chimney it has,
beach huts lined a part of the sea front,
past the memorial,
the legend says it all,
on to the pier,
chatting to one of the locals,
evidently it was bunt down, after which the council said it did not have the money to rebuild it,
but locals started a campaign to raise funds,
and here it is now,
I was tempted to have a go myself,
but not on this one, even if it is small,
we were going to have a drink at the end of the pier,
but the queue was huge,
we could both imagine it would take an age to be served,
so we sat on the promenaded,
about halfway along the pier,
'Cheers!', from Diana,
and myself,
drinks finished we made our way back to the shore,
these flying saucer things looked like such good fun,
and then we realised why the end of the pier was so popular,
it has to be said, it was quite loud as well,
we started to make our way back to the hotel,
leaving the pier behind us,
we passed the memorial,
but we did have to stop at the shops,
the shadows growing longer by the minute,
we took a route inland to return,
looking at some of the attractions,
that the town has to offer,
nearly there,
by now we had both worked up a bit of an appetite,
and this is where we were going to eat,
the Jali next to our hotel,
'Cheers!' as our starters arrived, onion bhajis for myself, but what Diana had ordered was a real surprise, in all of the times that we have been going to Indian restaurants we have never seen these before,
they were called pani puri,
Diana posted a photograph of them on her web page, one of her co-workers posted a comment about how looking of those reminded her so much of her life in India,
for our main course Diana ordered chicken Madras, I ordered a chicken kolhapuri, as I had never heard of it before, it did have 2 chillies next to it to say it was hot, the restaurant was not joking!
after our meal, a nightcap,
a coffee for Diana, I sipped a double, double dark rum as we watch the sea and traffic from the front of the hotel, next for us we were off to bed.
