looking up there is a certain part of the ceiling,
that ripples, the reflection from the rippling surface of the aquarium appears when the room lights are out, the slowly moving image of the ripples is relaxing and some what hypnotic, so it was with some interest that I looked at these new curtains that do just that, with a slight breeze and the sun shining through them the curtains give a lazy feel to a room,
they are the idea of Tokyo-based
designer Oto Kawamata, Water
Shadow Curtain is a lace-based curtain that filters light to create caustics,
the randomly fluctuating patterns of bright lines at the bottom of the pool or
aquarium. These caustics are caused by reflection and refraction of sunlight
that create illuminated lines which flow gently as the sun moves or the
curtains flow, the product is still in prototype phase but the designer
received so much positive feedback on
Twitter that he’s formed a design agency and is working to accelerate
bringing Water Shadow Curtain to market. You can stay up-to-date by following
them on
Instagram, what a pleasant look to give to almost any room.
