Diana Was On Late Shift Again,

which meant we could have breakfast together,


so a fry up and a mug of tea it was then,

similar for Diana but with a branch of mini tomatoes,

in the afternoon we were out,

the crocuses,

and daffodils putting on a good show, all of the verges here had a nice display, but now the park has become so popular, most have been trodden into mud by car drivers and passengers,

a quick stop to post a letter by snail mail,

at the entrance to the park, the couple that live in Foxgrove Lodge have made a nice effort to make one of the verges opposite their home into a welcoming garden below the sign, Diana was off to work,

I went to the bank, today a new system is in place where extra checks are made on card transactions, overnight three transactions we made were cancelled, amazingly my monthly payment to pay for our car insurance was declined, even though the payment has been made to the same company for the past 3+ years! two other items we bought were also declined, so a trip to the bank it was then, after an age of waiting in one of the booths with a bank employee the telephone was eventually answered, the payment to the insurance company was passed, but of the two other transactions only one was allowed to go though, the second one we will have to pay again over the Internet, I should point out that both transactions were with companies we have used before!

home again, after my evening meal and a couple of quiz shows,

 I decided to watch The Accountant, which was surprisingly good, an accountant who has issues in that he prefers numbers to people is flagged by the Treasury Department's Crime Enforcement Division, it all goes downhill, or uphill depending on your views on hero lawbreakers, from there, after which Diana arrived home, so it was feet up for a Inspector Frost before we were off to bed.

Dear Stanley and Diana-seems that all this electronic banking has become so complicated that even when you set up everything correctly at your end, things don’t process correctly. Does not help that most cards and banks continually update their systems to the point that they delete that needed information that links your account to the payment requested. This did not happen 200 years ago. Also when you do go to the bank, no apology and most clerks look at you as the cause of their problems.
As we say, the Golden Era is gone and we are just lucky if systems work well enough to not shut off your insurance or utilities.

Dear John and Alley, I really do not trust banking systems, I still use a cheque book and have my bank statements mailed to me, whilst in Thailand I can say with confidence everyone I knew from the UK at some time over the years I lived there had their accounts compromised, one couple with HSBC had both of their accounts closed at the same time! it took over 3 months to get their accounts working again, best regards, Stan and Diana.
