when we suck on sweets,
photographs @kuwane/Twitter strawberry, coconut, cholate, the list is almost endless, but how about sucking on a sweet that taste of exactly nothing? in other words, the taste of emptiness, will the sweet catch on? well Japanese convenience store chain Lawson is hoping so with their recently launched new product, Aji no Shinai? Ame, which translates as, tasteless? candy,
according to the packaging, the Aji no Shinai? Ame sweet only has two ingredients: synthetic sugar substitute polydextrose and organic sugar substitute erythritol, the guys at SoraNews24 got their hands on a pack, and shock, horror, were surprised by how flavourless the candy was,
the candy apparently has a very faint aroma that SoraNews24 testers compared to that of a watered-down sports drink. There is also a hint of sweetness to it, comparable to that of white rice, so who exactly is this tasteless treat aimed at? apparently some people just use candy to keep their mouths and throats from drying out and could do without all the sweetness and artificial flavouring, will the new sweet be a hit in Japan and ultimately the world? only time will tell.
