and we were out,
into a chilly day,
so warm clothes on as it was Diana's day off she accompanied me to visit Duncan,
rain was forecast, but so far it held off,
we were soon at Blackheath Village,
passing the flower shop, in the station whilst I bought next months tickets to visit Duncan, Diana popped into the takeaway in the station,
and bought this,
the biggest almond croissant we have ever seen!
bad news looking at the arrivals sign, the train the goes through to Gravesend no longer running, so it is going to be a winter of changing trains at Dartford, and the chilly wait that it entails,
we settled down for the first part of the train ride,
Diana was just about to start to eat,
when we decided to sit on the other side of the carriage,
time to tuck in,
as Diana was warming her feet on the trains heater,
arriving at Dartford a photograph of the fountain, no wind this week,
a few ducks here,
the fountain looking nice as usual,
we arrived in Gravesend, the rain still thankfully holding off,
a short wait for the 483 bus and we were soon walking up the hill,
arriving at the nursing home Duncan stays in, when we arrived he was wide awake and pleased to see Diana, we chatted about the times we all went out, which brought back many happy memories, as his lunch arrived we said our farewells,
outside and away we went,
off of the bus, but here we were lucky, this train going through to Blackheath Village, so no changing trains, in the village the number 54 bus arrived, Diana alighted at our usual stop, I stayed on the bus,
I had to pick up my bi-monthly prescription, I had been emailed that Boots had received it from the surgery, but it was not to be, the computer in Boots said No, I was given some of the prescription and asked to call back next week when hopefully the computer will be in a better mood,
next over the road to Lidl, for a few bits and pieces,
the cut flowers looking nice this week, shopping finished and home,
off of the bus, as I walked into the park the low sun making the leaves look almost golden, a quick coffee, relax,
and we were out again, as it was Diana's day off we decided to try a different Indian restaurant, just one bus stop and short walk from the one we normally go to,
we passed this restaurant with its Halloween display outside,
and this was the restaurant we were trying, the Beckenham Curry Club, they do not have a web site, so the only way to look at a menu is a takeaway one,
we were early so the only dinners so far,
a couple of poppadums as we looked at the menu,
they only serve beer, no wine or sprits, but we were told we could buy wine next door, but I settled with a few Cobra's,
our starters arrived, Diana went with a tandoori mix platter starter, which included onion
bhaji, samosa, chicken tikka & seekh kebab,
'Cheers!', as my starters arrived,
a onion bhaji, after a suitable break,
our main courses were served, chicken korma, a lamb in a house special curry, a prawn dish, naan bread and special rice,
time to tuck in,
we tried a Peshawar naan which was stuffed with coconut and sultanas,
and a special rice with eggs, peas and onions, all of which was excellent, the bill came to £80.00, but when we asked if service was included the answer was no, but on the card machine 3 options were given, 15%, 20% or 30%, I hate to say it, but I thought that was a cheek, 10% is the maximum that we would ever leave, I know it is only a small difference, but in the UK we do not expect to help out paying waiters wages by giving big tips, just a small point but it was not expected, which is a shame as up until then the food was so nice we thought we might go back, as it happens if we do go pack we will leave the tip in cash, and just pay for the meal on the card machine, out of the restaurant and onto a number 54 bus for our journey back home, where it was feet up for a night cap, as Diana has a early start tomorrow we watched just one episode of Endeavour, before we were off to bed.
