well actually for anybody, what is it?
perhaps the next photograph will help,
OK lets make it really easy, here are its bits,
and in the almost centre of the picture a clue, a single con rod, it is the most powerful and highest revving single-cylinder motor - ever! it is a single cylinder Ducati, called the Superquadro Mono, the 659cc motor makes a claimed
76.4bhp in standard spec and an impressive 83.4bhp in track-ready form, it also
revs to an almost impossible to believe level 10,250rpm, courtesy of a
desmodromic top end, there was a previous Supermono, Ducati CEO, Domenicali was formerly the project leader on
the Supermono so had more than a keen interest in the new single, “About four
years ago, during a brainstorming, someone proposed: ‘why not do a new
Supermono?’” Ducati’s Engine Director Stefano Fantoni tells MCN. “At the end Mr
Domenicali decided that this idea could be developed.” it is great to see a company investing in petrol engines, no pictures of the new motorcycle so far, but I guess they will be shown sometime soon, photographs and full story here at MCM.
