Whilst Diana Was At Work,

I had a quiet day,

emptying the rubbish and whilst out side having a chat with our downstairs neighbour, who was trying to break the seal that the paint had made on the windows so he could open them, in the afternoon time for a film, Doctor Zhivago, the story is part narrated by Zhivago's half brother Yevgraf, who has made his career in the Soviet Police force, it is set against the backdrop of the Bolshevik Revolution and the horrors that it made, a love story but the film is more than that, great movie, I had watched it before but still like many of the classics so enjoyable to watch again, it was then time for my evening meal,

first a read and a sherry, the latest copy of Private Eye

one of the many items I like reading in the eye, number crunching,

next poppadums,

followed by onion bhajees,

rounding off my meal with a spicy chicken tikka masala,

which was as the name implies, a tad spicy! 'Cheers!', Diana was not due home yet so time for another film, and it was,

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, here is what I wrote about the film when we watched it before in May 2022, 'and scary it was too, a fantasy that was for adults in so far as some of the scenes are nightmarish indeed, but enjoyable to watch, the special effects pulling out all the stops, so be warned if you are going to show this to the kids, watch it first (beware of the twins) and a few nightmares might be avoided, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, if you have kids watch with caution', the 'star' of the the film, the house itself, which I had always thought was a house in the imagination of the film's makers, but I was so wrong, there is actual a abandoned home in Belgium that the house is based on, and here it is, the photographs were found via Tumblr, the mansion is near the village of Brasschaat, outside of Antwerp, Belgium', after which as it happened Diana arrived home, so a coffee and a chat before we were both off to bed.
