Day 16,

my last visit to the Saturday plant market,

the days and weeks have just flown past,

I arrived a tad thirsty,

so I started at the drinks stall,

the agony of choice!

a ice Nescafé,

in case you want to visit, the market is next door to Mini Siam, nearly opposite the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital,

in the first stall a few birds,

"whose a pretty boy?"

from a chorus line up of parrots,

garden ornaments aplenty,

and some for miniature gardens,

on to the plants,

first of course,

orchids,

assorted anthuriums,

pots for the home or garden,

I had bimbled into the big plant and tree section,

these can,

be delivered or bring your own pick-up,

I love the multi coloured bougainvillea

the strange thing is that the red and yellow are actually leaves, the flowers are the small white things in the middle of the coloured leaves,

a banana with a difference,

instead of all green leaves this variety has more brown than green,

I remember this stall from when we lived in Suksabai,

we would buy cut orchids here,

for our table decoration for Sunday lunch,

more bromeliads,

and a new crop of waterlilies,

these are tropical ones,

and can only be grown in a greenhouse in the UK,

this one is similar to but not quiet the same as a waterlily available in the UK

a very colourful stall, all fake of course!

I carried on walking,

past water features,

and bonsai,

to more miniature garden ornaments,

lots of them,

this week a second aquatic outlet was here,

I decided to call it a day,

the beach was calling!

as it happens I had brought my towel and book with me,

so I exchanged the big trees in the market,

for the big palms on Dongtan beach,

no sooner had I settled in my lounger, when a squirrel started chucking bits of chewed nut at me, again!

I have no idea why,

oh well just relax,

'Cheers!' with a banana shake,

stir fried prawns and vegetables for lunch,

and in the afternoon,

2 plain doughnuts,

and there is the pesky squirrel, what did I do to upset him?

time for my early evening meal at Sharples

where I had the nicest fish and chips I have had for years, I kid you not,

I went for the Atlantic cod and a saveloy,

and this I really like, and have not seen or eaten since the 1950s, Batter Bits, and they were free! they brought so many memories back from when we were in Rochester at Star Hill visiting relatives back in the 50s, next back to the hotel for a shower and change,

before my customary nightcap at Dang's before I was off to bed.
