I was up early,
and soon on my way,
the clubs looking totally different,
in the cold light of day,
the tree still here after at least 40 years to my knowledge,
I continued walking,
past Macs,
and one of the many clubs newly opened,
and the Bayside hotel,
under the Walking Street sign at the other end of the street,
the Pattaya sign in the distance,
a walk along the jetty,
a bit grey over Pattaya,
the cost to get to the island is 30 baht each way,
after the 50 minute crossing,
on to the jetty on the island,
Diana and myself have spent many happy days here,
I was lucky to be one of the first off,
what to do? turn right to the small breach,
across the walkway,
I decided on the big beach as usual,
I tried to hire a lounger,
but every one of them was taken,
the whole beach was packed,
with empty loungers, not one for hire, I did find a seat under an umbrella, but no service, I was old if I want a coffee or food to walk back to the jetty, apparently tour groups had hired in advance every lounger and café for later in the day, I had no choice but to leave the island,
so as the first return ferry was not until midday, some two and a half hours away, I had to go over the island,
to the other jetty,
and hire a speed boat there,
to get me, and many others,
back to the main land,
150 baht later and I was in the queue,
the weather is defiantly not looking good,
in 30 minute or less I was on the floating part of the pontoon,
as passengers walked onto it,
I walked along the jetty,
to the main road,
and took a taxi to Dongtan Beach,
this is the exit to View Talay that Diana and myself stayed in before leaving to the UK we used this entrance/exit so many times,
and here there were loungers for hire,
my view of the beach,
this cheeky chappie kept me amused, if for no other reason than I must have upset him or a relative in a previous life, every so often a part chewed nut would land nearby,
anyway coffee it was,
followed by cow pat gai, chicken in rice,
lots of loungers and none reserved!
I remember him, the doughnut man, I bought 2 at 20 baht each, note to self, do not waste time or money going back to Koh Larn, individual travellers are not wanted or welcome, such a shame that tour groups have taken over,
on my way back I stopped,
at a open air food market,
at my favorite stall,
this one,
selling chicken feet soup, the best 50 baht I have ever spent,
after arriving back and a shower, I was out,
having a look around the street,
a few of the other bars,
I sat in Dang's,
as small tour groups 'followed the flag'
a few sticks to eat in the room,
but which to chose?
3 to go and I was home and soon asleep.
