so we were out,
a quick selfie before we leave,
and we were out,
into a nice bright sunny day,
Diana stopped to admire the bluebells in one of the grass verges,
past the snail mail box,
as we left the park we had to stop by Foxgrove Lodge,
the wisteria was putting on a good show this year,
on to a number 54 bus,
and two minutes later stuck at road works, are there any main roads in the UK that do not have road works on them?
alighting in Blackheath, it was into Oliver Bonas for Diana, but nothing took her fancy,
meanwhile on the other side of the road I looked at the greengrocers,
the bookshop on the corner of the heath was open,
I dared not to go in, they may have a book by the Reverend J. G. Wood that I do not own, so I would just have to buy it!
as it happens I also have a copy of his biography, it is a fascinating read,
over the road,
and on to Blackheath,
we walked along the pathway looking back at the church,
in the distance,
rows of public toilets for Sunday's London Marathon,
into the park,
passing the gate house,
the road already cordon off for the runners,
and this is what we came to see,
but we were I am guessing a couple of weeks too late!
the cherry blossom, there is more on the ground than on the trees!
oh well next year it will be, note to self, arrive at the beginning of April,
on Sunday runners will be streaming down here,
looking in the other direction the statue and the view towards Canary Wharfe,
time for a coffee and a cake,
table found,
I decided against a cake,
Diana strikes the pose on another table,
it was so nice sitting in the sun,
and then we were out again,
for a couple of poses in the sun,
behind Diana the O2 and chimneys of the power station,
and what everyone here does,
a photograph looking towards Canary Wharfe,
on the right some work was going on,
as I always say when I take this photograph, the ancient and modern all in one photograph, well not so ancient but still of an age,
the power station and O2,
well I just had to!
a stop on the way down,
looking to the left,
all of the hillside had been cleared of undergrowth,
the red Time Ball on top of Flamsteed House, there were a few time balls in the UK, at the time so important for mariners,
the two workers,
hard at work,
job nearly done,
as we left the park, we past one of the many pubs in the area,
and made our way down to the one way system,
Diana just had to have a look at Oliver Bonas,
again a no sale,
and this is where we are heading,
Diana caught me up,
so in we went,
we were greeted with a riot of colours on this stall,
all of the area is covered,
so a rainy day is no excuse for not shopping here,
we continued walking, I stopped and had a chat with a stall owner who was selling prints, and nice they were to, and then like a fool I forgot to take a photograph of her stall or pick up a card!
fresh flowers for sale on this stall,
and of course food from every continent,
I always find this shop fascinating,
selling shoes,
or today in this case clogs I guess you would call them,
in all manner of designs,
a quick look at the stamp and coin section, but nothing of interest for myself,
past the food stalls,
I went in search of a ATM I think they are called,
past the Gipsy Moth,
I do not like heights, looking up at the mast tops is almost giving me the heebie-jeebies,
and there she is, the figurehead of the vessel,
we walked past the music academy,
where a van form Universal Studios was parked up, lots of huge lights on the right,
it was all happening in the distance,
looking back across the rivers a couple of tugs with barges were making their way downstream soon to pass the O2,
Diana looked at the menu before we made our way inside,
we were lucky and snagged a table with a nice view of the river,
a wine to start,
Diana had a pint of coke,
'Cheers!',
our meal arrived,
a burger for Diana,
fish and chips for myself,
Diana made a video of our view from our table, the meal came to £77.00,
a look at the bar as we left,
the tavern has so many maritime based artefacts, every wall adorn with maritime paintings,
lots of room here, but in another part of the tavern there was a wedding reception going on,
outside I was busy snapping away,
the whole area festooned with colourful flags,
I was taking photographs of this alleyway,
and here they are,
some of the wedding party,
we made our way back into town and caught a couple of buses home,
and soon arrived at the entrance to the park,
such an abundance of flowers on Foxgrove Lodge,
also along the side of the building, and the aroma was just so nice,
we started to walk into the park,
Diana stopping under this chestnut tree,
it looks like there will be a good crop of conkers this years!
further along there was another wisteria growing,
but this a white one,
again a good showing of flowers this year,
when we arrived home Diana was feeling a little tired, so off to bed she went, for myself I decided to play with a couple of photographs of temples I took when we were lived in Thailand, this one of the silver or mirrored temple, this one above out of the camera,
I tweaked it a tad,
the same for this one out of the camera,
I made a couple of slight improvements,
then Diana was up so time for a lamb stew for our late evening meal, 'Cheers!', it was then feet up for a Midsomer Murder followed by a Have I Got A Bit More News For You, before we were off to bed.
