Golly Gosh It's Gone!
sad but true, in an earlier post I made mention of golly***s,
which appeared on Robetson jam products, has come to a sticky end, Premier Foods, which bought the brand last year, is getting rid of Robertson's jam, Robertson's has been part of British life since 1864, when the business was started by Scottish grocer James Robertson behind his shop in Paisley.
The Golly character, a black-faced minstrel doll with colourful clothes, was on the label for the best part of a century, but the politicaly correct a-holes had the the Golly axed from TV adverts in 1988, and disappeared from the labels in 2002, so if you still want a British jam go for Tiptree Jam, at the home of the Wilkin family, they have farmed there for nearly three hundred years, the very first Tiptree conserves were made there in 1885 and to this day they still specialize in fruit growing on the Tiptree estates in Essex, British, Best And Pround Of It!
