Don Called By First Thing This This Morning,

looking very much like marriage suited him, he wanted some of the pictures I took of his wedding to send to friends, so more than a few cups of tea later, we were off,
to Makro, now this is strange for the first time ever we were asked for a card, I had not thought of applying for one, so shopping completed I went to the desk to ask for one, it appears I had committed a cardinal sin, you have to have a business to shop at Makro, I mentioned that all of my friends that shop here do not have a business but cards were issued, the young assistant I guess on some sort of power trip made it plain that on his watch you need a card, with a tax form and other documents from your business before he would issue one, hopefully he will be back to stacking shelves on our next trip, or at least be a little more civil, looking around I could not help feeling that 80% of people there like us had just popped in for a bit of shopping, their trolleys with just a few purchases in them, a loaf of bread, 4 apples, a small pack of coffee and a bill of less than 300 baht, I wonder how they were given a card?
admittedly we did not spend much there, 4 packs of frozen fish, 3 boxes of New Zealand Mussells, 3 packs of frozen prawns only about 3,000 baht or so, but a lot more than most others there, one thing we did treat ourselves to was a few of these delicious pomegranates, I have to say they were with out doubt the nicest I have eaten - ever!
our trip to Makro left us with a lot of time during the day so we visited a few old favorites, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, with it's by now famous Time Warp dance routine, if you have not seen the movie at least look at the dance!
keeping to light hearted theme, Brazil was next on our list, Sam Lowry is a harried technocrat in a futuristic society that is needlessly convoluted and inefficient, while trying to rectify the wrongful arrest of one Harry Buttle, Lowry meets the woman he is always chasing in his dreams, Jill Layton, meanwhile, the bureaucracy has fingered him responsible for a rash of terrorist bombings, and both Sam and Jill's lives are put in danger, how to describe Brazil? a sort of 1984 but made with Monty Python steroids and a lot more humour thrown in!
then for the series stuff, the rape of South America in a film called The Mission, a Spanish Jesuit goes into the South American wilderness to build a mission in the hope of converting the Indians of the region, a slave hunter is converted to the faith and joins him in his mission, when Spain sells the colony to Portugal, they are forced to defend all they have built against the Portuguese aggressors, the sad part of all of this is that it appears to be based on fact, so much so at the end of the film the director notes that people to this day are still losing their lives protecting the endemic tribes that still live there,
then back to our last box of Frost series 9 to 12, the first of series 10, Hidden Truth, Cathy Thompson and her son, who has witnessed a murder, are being looked after in a safe house, somebody has located the Thompsons and, in Frost's book, this can only mean that there is a traitor within the police ranks, just to make matters worse on the personal front Jack has lost his lottery ticket, the winning one, the big one! then off to bed.
