I Always Thought That Oranges Were Orange,

strawberries like raspberries were red, but a black variety was developed some time ago, especially high in ellagic acid, anthocyanins and antioxidants, research has shown that black raspberries may slow the growth of breast, cervical, colon and esophageal cancers, so it is not just a fad, as a November 2010 study from the University of Illinois found that black raspberry supplements were associated with a 45% reduction in the incidence of colorectal tumors, and a 60% reduction in tumors within mice engineered to develop intestinal tumors,
now TESCO have announced another new variety is to be marketed, the champagne raspberry, because of its tawny colour, it is said to be sweeter than its more traditional red cousin, the colour comes from substances in the raspberries which are normally hidden by red pigment, in this case, a natural genetic change led to the loss of the red – leaving the yellow to shine through, the golden berries, which are similarly priced to their traditional counterparts, the new berries are being grown for TESCO by Berkshire-based Hall Hunter, one of the UK’s biggest berry growers, what will they think of next?
