I Always Thought That Councils Were Short Of Money,

but in in Exeter, Devon it appears they have plenty to throw around,

take this 8 foot long cycle path for example, the official reason it is in Okehampton Road is to highlight the existence of another cycle lane across nearby Exeter Canal, I would have thought a sign post would have been better and cheaper for the rate payers of Exeter, but then I do not have a job to keep with a gold plated pension, in the official spin, a spokesman insisted town planners had properly thought the lane through, he said: 'it’s the start of a cycle path which continues off the road to join the dedicated cycle paths along the flood relief channel and across the Exe Bridges',

basically encouraging cyclist to ride on the pavement in other words, 'the drop kerb entrance to the cycle path would be easily missed by cyclists if there was nothing on the road to indicate where it started,' well that's all right then, but I still think a sign would have served the same purpose, but then I am not on the payroll of the Highways Authority of Devon County Council.
