Christmas Day,

and we were over to see Nick and Maureen,

 who had invited us over,

the pool looking as clear as glass,

the table laid ready for Christmas dinner,

Nick had baked a Christmas cake,

but first a drink, then outside,

where we chatted away, but looking at Maureen's cactus garden,

I noticed that this one had flowered,

so small but I had never seen one like this before, whilst outside we nibbled on pork pies,

meanwhile Nick had popped inside to carve the turkey,

 whilst we all relaxed,

 prawn cocktail for starters,

 a quick picture,

 then hats on,

 well it was Christmas,

 next time to tuck in,

we decided it was time for presents before the main course,

Nick I am sure knew what we had bought him,

 but for myself,

and Diana it was a surprise, chocolates for Diana,

 and shortbread for myself,

Nick started to unwrap his present,

Diana had a surprise extra present from Maureen, a pair of fluffy slippers,

 a shirt for Nick,

and a bottle of very special coconut oil for Maureen,

 Diana's slippers,

 roast turkey,

 with all of the trimmings,

so a Merry Christmas from Diana and myself,

 and Nick and Maureen,

then the dessert and what a dessert it was,

Nick had made the sponge for the bottom of the trifle as well as the custard,

 Nick did the honours,

after that it was cracker time,

where there was great fun in reading the jokes,

like, what do Eskimo's call cows?,
Eskimooos!

to round off the early evening a game of Monopoly, which Nick won,

then feet up as we watched a selection of Morecambe and Wise Christmas specials,

 with a glass of wine,

and of course some slices of pork pie and turkey sandwiches with pickled onions, then we were all off to our beds.
