We Were Going Fishing,

with Nick and Maureen,

but we made a slight detour on the way, to the garden centre that is just past the traffic lights a couple of kilometres away from Soi Siam Country Clubs entrance in Sumkivitt Road,

 so off we went,

 looking through it's extensive grounds,

to be fair there was not a huge number of varieties,

but there were so many of each one,

just in front of the office it was impossible not to notice this huge tree,

it had masses of rootlets coming down from it,

and so many trunks and vines growing up into it,

the back of the truck filled with plants, all of them for 600 baht,

we soon arrived at the park,

this was going to be serious!

lines cast it was sit back and wait,

not a cloud in the sky,

 it was hot,

 very hot,

after a few hours of no fish we ordered one that had already been caught from the restaurant and that was how the day ended 0-0, but it was still a very enjoyable day out despite the lack of fish,

if you want to fish here, it is the Mamak fishing park, their map above, it is off of Soi Nub Plan Wan, (spelt as it sounds), turn into the Soi from Sumkivitt, over the railway crossing and continue for a couple of miles, the road starts to go downhill, near the bottom of it you will see the road the fishing park is on the right hand side, follow that for a while, it twists and turns a bit and the fishing park is on the left next to a soccer ground, there are rods and tackle for hire and bait to buy, plus a fridge full of beer!

arriving back at Nick and Maureen's we were amazed at how big their tomato plants had grown,

some of them were two or three times that size of our plants, Maureen was so happy with them,

before our evening meal we snacked of some of Maureen's home made sausage rolls followed by some poppadoms with onion and mint or spicy chutney, for our main course Nick had prepared a curry but used a different blend of spices, followed by cheese and biscuits with ice cream,

 it was all delicious,

on to the important part of the evening Monopoly, Nick won, I was firsts out quickly followed by Maureen, so the battle was between Diana and Nick, soon it was all over, after thanking Nick and Maureen for looking after us so well we made a move for home, we watched one from Rumpole, then for us we were off to bed.
