We Often Go Out To The Seaside,

on Diana's day off,

one place we have not visited so far is Dover, we are waiting for the £250 million project called Dover Western Docks Revival to be finished, it has been under way since 2017, above Dover's new marina is eventually supposed to have shops, bars and restaurants (Image: Port of Dover),

and the good news is that it is finished, and now that summer is here we can visit the dockside development, but there is a problem, although officially open there are still no food or drink outlets, not even temporary ones, rumour has it the Port has at least one street trader lined up, but a spokesman would only tell Kent Life where the story and pictures are from: "We are working on various options for recreational use of the Marina Curve/Clock Tower Square area, and hope to make an announcement soon to let the public know what will be there for the summer." and there was me thinking that the summer had already started!

still at least it does look nice, and the good thing is we love looking at boats moored in harbours, naturally we always chose the biggest as 'ours' so at least we can look at the boats that are moored in the brand spanking new marina, 

ah! wait a second, there are no boats in the marina, and will not be for some time to come, apparently the port authority and planners did not realise there is a thing called tides and winds, that make swells, a Port of Dover spokesman said: “Towards the end of last year, we identified that there was something causing swell in the new marina under certain weather conditions, this was discussed with berth holders and we have since been working with our experts to address this. We are now close to knowing what needs to be done to resolve the issue, before we start work on the solution, we are going to be getting some final modelling done to give us the assurance that the solution we do finally implement will successfully conclude the matter.” I do not wish to be discourteous, but I would have thought anyone in charge of docks, harbours and boat berths like the one at say Brighton, would have known about tides and swells that occur all of the time, but apparently not, still the concreate looks nice if we visit, shame about there being no places to eat or drink there.
