We Spent The Day Watching DVDs,

the evening watching the weather,

we had two storms last night, an early evening one, which disappeared into the distance,

 and a late evening one,

in the first we had the usual thunder and lightening, the street flooded,

the far end of the street is deeper,

but luckily it had another few inches to go before the water came up the drive,

by the time I came outside the water had already started to recede, but then the second storm started, not so much rain this time but the worst electrical storm I have ever seen in my life, it was so close that before each flash of lighting the television would black out, not the house or street lights just the television, every 30 or so seconds some times sooner we would have to stop the DVD player and go back to where the DVD was when the television blacked out for 5 or more seconds, the space between the flash and the bang were five to ten seconds then the time became shorter until one time the flash and bang were instantaneous, it felt like the house had been hit, but we found out in the morning the lightening had hit a few house up the road, also that hit made the DVD player act up so we had top switch it off and reboot that as well as the television, scary stuff indeed!

back to the afternoon we watched a old favorite, Citizen Kane, a truly great film, particularly the search for Rosebud, the film begins with a news reel detailing Kane's life for the masses, and then from there, we are shown flashbacks from Kane's life, almost as famous was William Randolph Hearst, and his efforts to have it destroyed,

I never knew at least two of many versions of this title were made, one the first shown in America cut by more that 20 minuets than the one shown in France and a number of other European countries, regrettably I have the shortened for US DVD, Once Upon a Time in the West, it is a Spaghetti Western that for me has everything, Mrs. McBain, who moves from New Orleans to frontier Utah, on the very edge of the American West, She arrives to find her new husband and family slaughtered, but by who?

what can one say about Pulp Fiction, it is one of those films you love or hate, we both loved it, it is the story of the lives of two mob hit men, a boxer, a gangster's wife, and a pair of diner bandits that intertwine in four tales of violence and redemption, for us the best lines of the movie,

Fabienne: Whose motorcycle is this?

Butch: It's a chopper, baby.

Fabienne: Whose chopper is this?

Butch: It's Zed's.

Fabienne: Who's Zed?

Butch: Zed's dead, baby. Zed's dead,

you have to watch it to appreciate it!

from season 9, Dead Letters, was the first treat from Midsomer Murders this evening, a beauty queens death which occurred several years previously, is put under the microscope when this year her mother is murdered, Vixen's Run was next as Sir Freddy Butler uses the occasion of a local festival to invite his extended family to an elaborate dinner at his large estate under the pretext of making a special announcement, included are two ex-wives, his current wife, two sons, and his eccentric brother, crikey it is for most people bad enough when one ex wife arrives, but two, expect some fireworks! then for us off to bed.
