Do Not Mess With Fish 165,

and you thought fish were fun!

how strange that I mentioned zebrafish, (Danio rerio), on our blog just six days ago then they are in the news again, this time in a photo contest, which in fact they won, the two pictured above are larvae that are being studied by the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology, in Tubingen, Germany, as part of its investigation into sensory cells and the development of organs in embryos,

the lucky photographers Jurgen Berger and Mahendra Sonawane, both employees at the Institute picked up the 5,000 euros in prize, the Institute organises the Images of Research Focus Photo contest, back to the fish, they are two-day-old zebrafish larvae, as seen through a scanning electron microscope, the two holes above the mouth show the developing olfactory system.
