It Was His Birthday Yesterday,

and I missed it!

Albert Einstein was a German-born theoretical physicist who was born on 14 March 1879, in Ulm, Germany, He developed the theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics, and yesterday was also a happy pie day, no not that pie, this one is Happy Pi Day! March 14 is celebrated as Pi Day because the date, 3/14, is the first three digits of pi, the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, of course, the number is not "round" at all, and the digits go on to infinity, in that long sequence of numbers, you'll eventually find any other sequence of numbers, like your birthday, Time made a handy calculator to find where your birth date falls in the pi sequence,

and this is mine, digit number 385, this is how it works, Time wrote a program to scan the first million digits of Pi and identify the first instance of all 366 days of the year, represented like "314," with the month followed by the day ("704" for July 4th for example, or "1225" for Christmas Day"). The program found the final date — Dec. 3, or "1203" — beginning at the 60,873rd digit, enter your birthday or any other date in the calculator and you will see how deep into Pi you have to go to find it, it must have taken an age to work all of that out, but there it is, free to try and and work out your pie digit, no not that pie, the other pi!
