Usually When Most Of Us Crack,

or break a plate, or other item made of porcelain,

 we throw it away,

but Amsterdam-based jewelry designer Gésine Hackenberg,

has found another use for these discarded item,

puncture them to create small circular “pearls,”

which she then are either strung together to create an ornate necklace, or set in silver for a pair of earrings or brooch,

Hackenberg is in fact a classically trained goldsmith,

and studied jewelry design at the Fachhochschule für Gestaltung Pforzheim in Germany,

and is currently a visiting professor at the MAD School of Arts in Hasselt, Belgium.

You can see more of her collections,

like this set of copper fruit jewelry, on her website, back to the porcelain jewelry, what a great way to repurpose an unwanted item.
