that where we live in South East London,
the tap water is incredibly hard, that is rich in calcium and other minerals that leave lime scale on anything it dries on, the upside is that for breeding certain fish like Lake Malawi and Tanganyika cichlids the water could not be better, below are some photographs of fish from the Rift Valley that we kept when we lived in Thailand back in January 2009,
the downside is that every so often any surface such as the ones in the bathroom, the shelves I cleaned yesterday, or like today, the draining board and sink has to be repeatedly treated with a lime scale de-scaler, and this was one of my househusband jobs today, also cleaning the windows, who would be a househusband! Diana arrived home it the evening, so feet up for a film we had watched a long time ago before,
Hostiles, we were quite a way into it before I remember what I had written the last time we watched it, "cowboys and Indians, well army and Indians, from an all action start it went into 15 minuets or so of dreary, another action scene, then back to dreary, the film continued like this until the end, it almost seemed like in places the script ran out, so a line of horse trudged across the screen until the script caught up, maybe I expected too much from my boyhood cowboys and Indians films", as it happened it finished just as a New Tricks started, after which we were off to bed.

Stan-great collection of cichlids! Most look about 2 years old. How long did you keep this tank in tact?
John and Alley
Dear John and Alley, for the thirteen or so years we lived in Thailand we had two big aquariums, and occasionally a few smaller ones, the two big ones were roughly 600 and 900 litres each, over the years we kept many different species of fish from discus to goldfish and Malawi's to rainbows, if you type in 'Chatuchak market' in the search box on the top left hand side of the opening page you will see lots of posts of our visits over the years to the live fish market in Bangkok, just keep hitting the 'Older Post' to see more of our trips there, as for the fish in the photographs I think we kept Malawis and Tanganyikans for about 3 years, best regards, Stan and Diana.
