It Was Diana's Day Off,

so we were out,

I had bought a few presents for Diana, and as usual a few did not fit, so to Bromley it was to exchange them,

it was a bit of a grey, cold chilly day, we had planned to meet the 354 bus, at the stop a number of people were waiting, we all watched as it sailed past without stopping, the half hourly bus was full!, this is what annoys me so much about the greenies and tree huggers, they want you to use public transport and then dismally fail to proved it!

so a walk it was then past the skating rink on the green, which still had a few customers,

we stopped at the bus stop next to the church,

the 227 although crowded, no seats available, at least stopped and let us on, we were soon in Bromley,

presents exchanged for ones that fit, and we were off for a walk,

through the High Street,

as it happens I bought a pair of corduroy trousers,

I popped into Costa for a coffee so Diana could go window shopping,

after which Diana decided on a take home McDonald's,

we passed the Partridge,

and were soon on our way past the Foxgrove Lodge and home, we watched a few quiz shows, and after our evening meal we were out,

past a very dark mansion in the park,

over the hill and down the other side,

to this special event in the park,

a little about the circus, from the blurb:

'We are a young and dynamic company, who are striving to do and to see circus differently. Our work is based on the principle that to create work of universal appeal does not mean a sacrifice of artistic integrity or depth. It is possible to make work that is both poignant and joyful, that can resonate deeply whilst bringing joy and laughter to the faces of children, We create work that our audiences can viscerally connect to, our work is just as much about the people doing technique as it is about the technique,

Our Story:

Our mission is to create and tour work for everyone, the big top is our home as it allows us to land in the heart of communities far and wide, inviting them into our world whilst being offered the privilege to be a fleeting part of theirs, founded in 2018 in a caravan in Newcastle-Under-Lyme we have grown from borrowing a 35 year old 200 seater tent to touring in our 500 seater big top.'

first stop, the beer tent,

we were a tad early,

no queues at the entrance to the big top,

as we were outside another couple of poses, one without flash,

and one with,

we were soon inside,

with ringside seats,

looking to the left from our seats,

and to the right, not much room for the elephants!

a touch of smoke,

and the show began,

all of the performers I am guessing in their mid 20's,

from out of nowhere an electric chainsaw,

started swinging across the arena, scary dairy as the performers ducked and dived beneath its swinging arc,

next a lady of the ring,

the trick is,

not to run over your fingers!

next the lady of many rings,

we have all seen acrobats on the television, but it is only when watched close up that it is so enthralling,

the lady of the wire,

put on such a good show,

not without a few heart stopping moments,

then a real daredevil act,

as this lady climbed two hand holds and was lifted high into the big top as she performed her routine,

this was not as easy as it looks,

balancing on a plank on top of a huge tyre,

I should say that the last time I was at a circus I was perhaps 5 or 6 years old, lions, tigers, elephants, horses, dogs, sealions and clowns were all part of the act, but now just humans, having said that a clown did entertain us during each set up, being chased by a progressively larger toy lion,

I should also say that Diana had never been to a circus before, and was enthralled by all of the performances,

then the comedy act,

who was in fact a juggler,

every so often being given more and more clubs to juggle,

cheered on by his fellow performers,

5, 6, 7, I will not say what happened next, but Diana was in shrieks of laughter, as were all of the audience!

by now the lion had grown in size,

and it was time to make up with the clown,

the grand finale,

as the troupers took a bow, a great show for all of the family, the circus will be in the park until Sunday January 8th.

Diana videoed the above whilst we were there, if like Diana you have never been to a circus before, this really was great fun, give it a try! arriving home it was feet up for a coffee and biscuits as we watched a New Tricks before we were off to bed.
