below the national government and form the country's first level of
jurisdiction and administrative division. They include 43 prefectures proper (県,
ken), two urban prefectures (府, fu: Osaka and Kyoto), one regional prefecture (道, dō:
Hokkaidō) and one metropolis (都, to: Tokyo),
and with that in mind a company has produced,

of enamel pins,
each representing one of Japan’s 47 prefectures, to keep as
mementos from your travels. Not only do they accurately capture the shape of
each prefecture but the colours were also carefully selected to align with what
the prefecture is known for,
Hokkaido, known for its rolling hills and lavender plants,
combines greens and purples,
Tokyo’s colours are greys and blues, inspired the the Tokyo
Metropolitan Government Building, the pins are
made by Zenrin, a Japanese company known for their maps, so you can be assured
