In England We Have Counties,

in the USA states,
illustration Wikipedia, in Japan they have prefectures, 47 of them, (都道府県, todōfuken), which rank immediately below the national government and form the country's first level of jurisdiction and administrative division. They include 43 prefectures proper (, ken), two urban prefectures (, fu: Osaka and Kyoto), one regional prefecture (, dō: Hokkaidō) and one metropolis (, to: Tokyo),

and with that in mind a company has produced,

a series of enamel pins,

each representing one of Japan’s 47 prefectures, to keep as mementos from your travels. Not only do they accurately capture the shape of each prefecture but the colours were also carefully selected to align with what the prefecture is known for,

Hokkaido, known for its rolling hills and lavender plants, combines greens and purples,

Tokyo’s colours are greys and blues, inspired the the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, the pins are made by Zenrin, a Japanese company known for their maps, so you can be assured that the pins are geographically accurate, if you want to buy one or more head over to the companies web site shop at Map Design Gallery where they sell geography-inspired items, the pins are priced at 1,100 yen each, at todays rate £5.84 or $7.50, what a great little memento of a visit.
