Guy Fawkes Night
Remember remember the fifth of November.
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder.
Treason should ever be forgot!
Guy Fawkes, 'twas his intent.
To blow up king and parliament.
Three score barrels were laid below.
To prove old England's overthrow.
By God's mercy he was catched
With a dark lantern and lighted match.
Holler boys, holler boys, let the bells ring.
Holler boys, holler boys, God save the King.
Traditionally on November the fifth bonfires are lit all over the UK to celebrate the discovery of a plot to overthrow the King of England, atop the fire a effigy of Fawkes himself, a reminder to all that treason will never be forgotten.
Nowdays most towns have a large firework display rather than a bonfire, for a full rundown on Fawkes and the plot go here or here,
