Henry Pierrepoint

Who is he I hear you ask? well he was a British hangman of some repute, with Halloween just past I was looking for other ghoulish things to put on the blog, I found this article about him here, he hung 105 people in his career and was one of three in his family that had a duty as a hangman, but at the tender age of 32 he was found to be to intoxicated to perform his duties. In all it is thought the three members of the family hung over 800 souls. This below is from the article, have a look.
Today it emerged a diary revealing Henry's log has been passed to Marshall's auctioneers in Knutsford, Cheshire - just two weeks after a similar log by Harry Allen, Britain's last hangmen, was handed in to the same firm. Both will go under the hammer next week and together could raise over £8,000.
