As A Kid We Often Went To Westgate In Kent,

for our summer holidays,

Mum, Dad, Nan, Granddad and of course me, the highlight of the holiday was a trip to Margate, just down the coast to visit Dreamland, on a Saturday we would spend the morning and afternoon on the beach, then make our way into Dreamland for the rides and shows and a snack in the afternoon, then after a seafood supper we would go to the seating area to watch the firework show,

the park was started in 1874, but over the years more people were taking holidays abroad and it eventually closed in 2006, it seems a shame as we all had such happy memories there, in the top right-hand part of the picture I can still remember standing almost exactly where the table and chairs are all of those years ago,

however, there are already signs that Margate's fortunes are looking up, of all the holiday resorts in the world, Margate reached seventh place in the Rough Guide book’s 'must see' destinations for 2013, Wayne Hemingway, the creative force behind the Dreamland Trust, says that the first phase of renovations will cost some £10 million, so hopefully when we next visit the UK work on a renovated Dreamland will have started and I can relive my childhood memories.
