Do Not Mess With Fish 88,

and you thought fish were fun!

well the blobfish (Psychrolutes marcidus) whilst not being the prettiest fish in the sea has a lot to be unhappy about and it looks it! we do not eat it as it is inedible itself, but it lives at depths of 800 metres or so and that is where we do get things we can eat, crabs and lobsters, the blobfish is caught and discarded, but this practice is threatening it's existence according to Professor Callum Roberts, from University of York, author of The Unnatural History of the Sea,

what can we do to save this unhappy looking fish? according to Professor Callum, 'In 2006 conservationists came very close to achieving a global moratorium on restricting bottom trawling on the high seas, they came within a whisker of that but Iceland rejected it so the United Nations was charged with protecting the deep sea species, so hopefully the UN will take charge of 'the blob' and keep it alive for future generations.
