Friday So Off To Soi Bukaow Market,

unfortunately where we park the bike to keep it out of the rain the sun shines on the helmets, just a good job we have a white seat, it is much cooler than a black one, also much easier to find in a sea of black bike seats,
first sight as we go in to the middle section of the market is the dinning area,
I was continuing to look for some glasses for Steve, so a quick look at some of the fancy goods section,
but no luck, so back to the fish and plant section I love looking around, the fish shop,
I had lost over the past year or so a few Haplochromis, (now reclassified as Cheilochromis), in one of my aquariums so when I spotted these I bought 6 of them to make up the numbers, the fish shop owner catching my 6, I am not sure which of the group there are or if they are a hybrid,
if you walk into the market at the top end this is the way in to the fish/plant section,
a few water lily's for sale, and of course lots of orchids,
I am not sure if the people on the stalls here are the growers or whether they buy them in from a farm,
but today there were more than ever in flower,
and lots of different varieties,
all so beautiful,
of course many of these are man made varieties and would not be this colour in the wild,
but nice to look at never the less,
one of the plants sellers kids has had enough for the day!
then Diana came back with a few things,
on the way back to finish our shopping at Friendship I saw this mini bike,
it was brand new and called a 'Monkey' but I think it was not a Honda,
the traffic was as usual backed up along Pattaya Tai as it is most market days,
then on to the railways, a few new trees on the far side of the hill,
and a few more along side the sidings,
just then Precil and Jay called round for a cuppa and a chat,
Jay and Precil strike the pose,
and Diana,
then back to painting the rocks at the side of the stream, these were the places that Diana could not reach, which was a shame as she made a better job of painting them than me!
well they look a lot better than just being left white,
I also painted the waters edge by the culverts,
Diana by now had prepared the next batch of trees, it was just like being back at the arts and crafts department at school!
Diana starting on the batch,
some more of the new trees in place,
the view of the goods yard from the back of the layout,
and from the end,
looking towards the left,
the nearly completed first hill, just a few more trees to go, then down tools, shower and out,
to the thephrasit market,
we were very early today, lots of trucks still unloading,
second hand shoes down to 80 baht,
another truck unloading, normally we are here at 6.00 but today we arrived about 5.00,
some of the stall holders kids waiting for a ice cream,
another mobile food stall,
even though we were early there were still lots of people about,
this is the corner of the fish and plant section, normaly it is difficult to see as there are stalls already here,
it must be flowering time for orchids,
in Soi Bukaow and here there are so many in flower,
so many varities to chose from,
and so many coulours,
sizes and shapes,
next past the food stalls, squid anyone?
and keep well away from these pans filled with boiling oil,
this is unusual nobody on the beer bar stools,
instead of having a dealers bike show, today oppisite it was a second hand shoe sale,
on the other side of the bar a pet stall,
Diana arrives back with fresh strawberrys,
then off she goes on another shopping foray, just then Gina from the Philippines and Jac from Thailand walked past and stopped to say Hi,
Diana then returned with a couple of yellow hair grips, she then decided dispite my lack of hair that one would look nice on me, no chance!
"Cheers!" from me then off to the soup stall for our evening meal,
but alas the soup stall was not there, so it was back home for a cooked meal,
so it was fish, chips, peas and fried onion rings together with a glass of wine,
then feet up to watch Baraka, a critically acclaimed film, beautifully filmed in 70mm Todd-AO format, an extremely high definition wide-screen film format developed in the mid 1950's, stunning thought provoking images with no dialogue, just a music soundtrack by Michael Sterns, the film takes you from continent to continent in the blink of an eye, with heart soaring and heart wrenching images, as one reviewer said,
'Baraka' is a work of art which rates amongst the greatest achievements in the field,
well it was a bit of a anticlimax to watch Doc Martin and Midsomer Murders after that, I must admit even today as I write this I am still seeing some of the beautiful images from Baraka, the good news is that there are two other similar DVD's that I have, Chronos and Powaqqatsi, I am looking forward to seeing them in the hope that they will be even better than Baraka, then it was time for bed.
