It Has Been So Cold Here Over The Past Few Nights,

that we actually turned the fan we normally have on off,

but the cold we are experiencing is nothing compared to what the citizens of Oymyakon have to contend with,

deep in the Siberian tundra, the village of Oymyakon is widely considered to be the coldest inhabited place on Earth with an average winter temperature of −50 °C (−58 °F),

whilst looking on the net for nothing in particular I came across these images from New Zealand-based photographer Amos Chapple who paid a visit to the 500-person village and captured a series of beautiful photographs showing what life is like inside this extreme village, traveling to the village usually involves a two-day drive from Yakutsk, a capital city of 300,000 people that has average winter temperatures of −30 °F (−34 °C), making it the coldest major city in the world, and there is us just turning off the fan for a night or two!
