Could Dr Hawley Crippen Be Innocent?
that is the question American investigating officers are asking, the body of Dr Hawley Crippen above may be exhumed from his prison grave as lawyers seek to prove his innocence with DNA evidence, Hawley Crippen, an American physician, was hanged for the murder of his wife Cora, a music hall singer who had a string of lovers, a mutilated body was discovered buried beneath the cellar of the couple's North London home, but was it his wife's? that is what the investigation is about,he famously fled Europe dressing his new lover as a boy and travelled with him as his son, but in the first use of a Marconi wireless to aprehend a criminal the ship they were on, the SS Laurentic, was over taken by the SS Montrose, the arresting officer Inspector Dew, (who was the first on the scene at the Rippers fifth victim and final victim Mary Jane Kelly) was told by Crippen, "Thank God it's over" and held out his wrists to be handcuffed, did he do it? time will tell, as soon as other relatives whose family's bodies share Crippens common grave to be asked if their families bodies can be exhumed a investigation will start, "Sherlock, pass me the magnifying glass please!"
