How Losing 10 Pounds Can Cost You 50!

Stewart Smith, 36, was leaving a charity shop after buying a £3 T-shirt, he put his change, £7 in coins in his front pocket, a £10 note and the receipt in his back pocket, unfortunately he missed the pocket, the note and the receipt fluttered to the floor, then two officers approached him outside the Capability Scotland store in Ayr and pointed out he had dropped the money, Mr Smith was initially grateful, He said: 'One of them pointed to the money and ticket. I said ‘Oh, thanks very much’ and picked them up, 'But then they said they wanted a word and told me they were fining me £50 for littering,' so lets get this right, the two Keystones saw it was a £10 note and a receipt and then fined him for littering? well yes, the police version is this, a Strathclyde Police spokeswoman said: 'An individual was seen throwing papers in the street, 'When he was spoken to he retained the money that he’d accidentally thrown away, but then repeated his actions with the papers, He was issued with a fixed-penalty ticket.' that seems a bit strange, that he had just been told about dropping litter and then dropped the receipt any way in front of the plod, there is zero tolerance in some cities regarding dropping litter, but surly on this occasion a quite word would have done? Mr Smith said his faith in the police had been shattered.
