First Thing,

the burglar alarm company called round on time as promised,

it appears there has been a change of management the new company being called Securitas, basically the new company wanted to check out all of the existing systems to make sure all was well and also to make ready for a free upgrade to a digital dialling system, so no more will a broken telephone cable mean that the alarm could be out of action, well done to Securitas for your sterling service, we have had our alarm I am guessing for 5 or even 6 years now, as we frequently go out it is reassuring to know that the house has some protection,

then a nice surprise, Jay and Precil called by along with Mark, so we chatted the afternoon away,

after our guests had left and our evening meal it was time for a classic, The Charge of the Light Brigade, we had watched it some time before, watching the ineptitude of our leaders in this film it is a surprise we won anything! there is of course the poem, The Charge of the Light Brigade by Alfred, Lord Tennyson

Half a league, half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!
"Charge for the guns!" he said:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred,

with the famous line,

Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die,

next a real treat, Last Chance to See, in what was a weekly series Stephen Fry and Mark Cawardine travel the world in an effort to see the seven most endangered species of animals in the world, wonderfully shot the landscapes and photography is really stunning, but a series of mishaps dog Stephen Fry, firstly they start out from the safety of their truck in Africa with a guide to walk towards a fully grown 2 ton rhinoceros, known for their poor eye sight and intemperate disposition not the wisest thing to do,

all goes well till they are 100 feet or so from the beast, then it eating as it goes starts unknowingly to make its way towards them, they slowly start to back off with the ranger between them, the gap narrows 50 feet, 20 feet, but the trio cannot move quicker or the animal will see their movement then charge, the distance is now down to just 5 feet between them, the animal looks up from feeding and sees them!

but worse is to come in the next show, Stephen takes a tumble from one boat to another which results in a air lift from the Amazon rain forest to Miami for a major operation, now back after convalescence they visit a island chimpanzee sanctuary, but Stephen has a cold, so he can not go near the chimps in case they catch it! we wondered what will befall him in the next episode of this hugely watchable series!

to round off the evening two from Waking the Dead, Skin, another West Side Story with all of the typical stereotypes, white girl with skinhead father falls for Asian boy, meanwhile a gay skinhead infiltrates the fathers skinhead group to wreak revenge on them for killing his black boyfriend, followed by Wounds, Boyd and the team investigate when the remains of a man are found in an underground tunnel complex that had been built by protesters in the mid-1990s, but it is not all that it seems to be, it is a ritual killing but first the team have to decide which culture killed in this way before they can proceed, could it be Celtic, Indian, American Indian or was the killer making the ritual up? with that it was late so we were off to bed.
