The Result Has Been Announced,

the car auctioned by RM Auctions,

has been sold, the 1960 Plymouth XNR was sold  for $935,000, I mentioned it on the blog yesterday but at that time the price it achieved was not known, the final price includes a 10% fee paid to auction company RM Auctions, and what a good auction RM Auctions had,

they re-wrote the record books yesterday at the same auction by selling a 1968 Ford GT40 Gulf/Mirage Lightweight Racing Car for $11 million, (above), it’s the highest price paid for an American automobile at auction, the car in question was used extensively as a camera car for the film LeMans, in total, seven cars broke the million-dollar-plus mark for one of RM’s most successful nights, the list includes a 1955 Ferrari 410 S which sold for $8,250,000, a $5,170,000 1938 Horch 853A Special Roadster (breaking the record for a Horch sold at auction), a $2,640,000 1938 Talbot-Lago T23 Teardrop Coupe, a $1,485,000 1965 Shelby 427 Competition Cobra, a $1,100,000 1998 Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR and finally, a 2001 Audi R8 Le Mans Prototype Racing Car which sold for $1,034,000, all of those 10%'s must add up to a healthy bank balance, and somebody was saying the world economy is going down the slide!
