There Did Not Seem To Be Much In The News,

that we found interesting, amusing or just plain weird,

so straight on to today's post, we called back to the TukCom Centre to pickup our printer, parking opposite what once was the Gossip Cafe, work started on it a few months ago, but then stopped, which is a shame as we had many enjoyable meals there,

we called in the back way to the centre,

all repaired and ready to go, the invoice stuck to the top of the printer came to 600 baht, that included a new 100 ml bottle of ink, looking back I first bought the printer in June 2010,

in case you are wondering I do not use ink cartridges I use a system known as CISS (Constant Ink Supply System), the ink is stored in reservoirs outside of the printer, the advantage is that a bottle of 100ml ink can cost as little as 200 baht, (£4.06, $6.35), having said that I use the 500 baht per 100ml ink as it is light fast and water resistant, but still way cheaper than buying ink cartridges, even taking into account of the original cost of the CISS,

view from the top, even better news when I gave the assistant a 1,000 baht note he gave me 500 baht back, saying 500 baht OK, so I was 100 baht up on the deal!

this is the price list from Inkman, the company that I bought the printer from and where I buy ink when needed, although it is a bit difficult to see the Cannon ip2770 complete with the CISS and full of ink comes to 2,900 baht, (£58.89,  $92.12), I am not sure how that compares with prices where you are, but looking at the cost of cartridges it works out a good deal for us here in Thailand, having said that I think that printers and such like are more expensive out here than in the UK,

we watched a couple of DVDs in the afternoon then out on the town, first a walk along Soi Diamond for a couple in Super Girls,

next stop Airport, great atmosphere, but we both said the 'music' was so loud, still it did not stop us from having a few in there!

Walking Street was packed with people coming from Bangkok for the long weekend,

then I could see it in the distance,

our last port of call Champions, just after we arrived Slim Jim called in followed by Don, so the drinks started flowing, next to arrive was Brian later joined by his wife Sa and two of her family, by now we were all into party mode, the evening just flew past,

on the way back I noticed this motorbike park, imagine if yours is the bike at the back and you want to get it out, it is just like the hell hole underneath Central Festival,

whilst in Champions Sa very kingly gave me a container of food for Diana, to be honest I am not sure what it was but Diana said it was delicious and many thanks for your kind thought,

first of the two DVDs we watched i the afternoon was The Day the Earth Stood Still, we had watched it before, the comments I made when we first watched it still hold true, 'great special effects but take those away and the comments I made when we first looked at it still apply, the 1951 original leaves the 2008 version squirming painfully in the dust, it could have been so much better',

then a complete change of pace with The Nightmare Before Christmas, the story line taken from the site, Jack Skellington, the pumpkin king of Halloween Town, is bored with doing the same thing every year for Halloween, one day he stumbles into Christmas Town, and is so taken with the idea of Christmas that he tries to get the resident bats, ghouls, and goblins of Halloween town to help him put on Christmas instead of Halloween -- but alas, they can't get it quite right, back to the evening, it was by now late so we were off to bed.
