We Were Up Early,

as we were going fishing,

 just a small thing about driving out here, a small change in driving has taken place, normally when approaching a red traffic stop signal it is OK to turn left on a red, look at the green arrow on the lights above,

to me this would mean stop if you are going straight ahead or turning right, but it is OK to proceed with caution if you are turning left,

 but you would be wrong, to turn left would result in a 400 baht fine at the very least, what you should have done is stop as the sign above indicates, until all of the lights change to green, so far since the new signs have been put at the bottom of the traffic lights two of my friends who are both long term residents have been caught and finned turning left on a green arrow, but on to fishing, the normal place we go to was all chained up, so after a drive around we came across this fishing park,

 the Mamak Fishing Park,

and very nice it was too, the easiest way to describe how to get there is go along Soi Nub Plan Wan, (spelt as it sounds), which is the Soi that runs parallel to Soi Siam Country Club, for a couple of miles, as you near the bottom of a slight hill you will notice a large pink building called the Pink Pussy Cat on the left, opposite there is a Soi go along that, it does get a bit narrow but keep on it and you will see the fishing park,

as you enter there is a large main building,

it does not matter if you do not have your own tackle, there is plenty available to rent, plus bait is for sale,

the huts themselves are nicely laid out,

they even had cushions,

 all set and ready to go,

 for the first cast of the day,

 the view looking to the right from our hut,

 and directly across,

 Nick concentrating hard,

 Diana ordered her breakfast, cow pat gai, chicken fried rice,

 Nick still waiting for the first bite,

 Diana was so happy, the fishing park had wi-fi, whatever that is, so she spent her time on her computer till the batteries went on strike,

 which was what both Nick and myself were waiting to do, but no bites so far,

 still it was quite nice watching the clouds go by,

 no rain today,

 in fact it was so bright that Diana had to improvise a sun shade to look at her computer,

 then a fish at last, first one to Nick,

 the downside was that it was one of the fish that are full of bones, so back it went,

 then one to me,

a huge tilapia, a keeper,

 Diana found all of this so exciting!

 then another to me,

 the fish were huge,

 what I call a coffee cart called round so Diana decided to buy a tea drink from it,

 it all looked very complicated,

 but Diana said it tasted delicious,

 another keeper for me,

 making a total of three,

 the excitement was just too much for Diana!

 then it was time to go, the three fish came to 4 kilos, which meant for tilapia they were really big, the cost for the day, for food, fishing, drinks and keeping the fish was 905 baht, bring on the chips!

 back to Nick and Maureen's to say hello to Ta-Taa,

 who then went to sleep!

 Nick had gone to town by making home made pate for starters, it was delicious,

 'Cheers!', from all of us,

 we then had a lovely roast dinner followed by cheese and biscuits and ice cream, many thanks yous to Nick and Maureen for looking after us so well,

 we then settled down to the evenings entertainment, Monopoly, both Nick and myself failed to buy any sets unlike Diana and Maureen who became property barons, they both knocked first myself then Nick out of the game,

finally due to a few fateful rolls of the dice Diana became tonight's champion, we had a lovely time so we then said our goodbyes to Nick and Maureen and made our way home, after watching some television for us we were off to bed.
