Only Yesterday I Mention The Plight Of A Lady That Had To Drag Her Dustbin 50 Foot,

to the end of her drive way,

so I pity the residents of some of the towns surrounding Bootle, Cumbria, namely Annaside, Kiskin and Hyton when after Keith Parker, Copeland Borough Council’s head of neighbourhoods said the residents had been consulted individually before the changes to their bin collections had been made, the changes consisting of forcing them to move their wheelie bins a mile-and-a-half down a country lane to a central collection point in an attempt to cut spending, now I am sorry but I can not for one moment think that any of the residents approved of such a plan,

Copeland Borough Council has said that rubbish will no longer be collected from 'off-route properties' despite the cuts, bin lorries will continue to go to those areas to attend houses of disabled residents in need of 'assisted collections' leaving some asking why they aren't collecting their bins too, but it appears these are mini lorries that are too small,
David Cross, of High Kiskin Cottage, said: 'they expect us to deliver 14 wheelie bins to the roadside between 7am and 8am', the move to change the collections is not helping the councils carbon footprint either, when you consider the comment of Deryck Fell, of Annaside, who said: 'it doesn’t make environmental sense to have 14 homes running 14 vehicles up the road to drop their bins off',

but pouring oil on troubled waters Keith Parker, Copeland Borough Council’s head of neighbourhoods, added, 'we will always work with individuals to identify the most suitable alternative option, this is what we are currently doing with the residents at Bootle', yes it is nice to know that your local council is working for you.
