Only Yesterday I Mentioned That Residents Surrounding The Area Of Bootle, Cumbria, Namely Annaside, Kiskin And Hyton,

had to carry their dustbins mile-and-a-half down a country lane,

to be collected than the local council had a change of heart, it seems that common sense is alive and well in Copeland Borough Council, it was not just the walk to drop the bins off that was the worry, it was going back home to wait for them to be emptied, then going to pick the empty bins up then taking them home again, 6 miles in total!

but here is the good news, Councillor Allan Holliday said: 'We are facing unprecedented funding cuts, and as a result have reviewed all of the services we provide, including waste collection, as a result, like other rural councils, we have to look at the feasibility of collections from lanes, however in this instance, we’ve listened and have already arranged a mutually acceptable and practical alternative with residents', a listening council at last.
